ShopVision raises USD $4.1 million to build AI for eCommerce teams

Sat, 20th Sep 2025

ShopVision has raised USD $4.1 million in a seed financing round to accelerate the development of an artificial intelligence (AI) platform for eCommerce brands, with participation from Brightspark Ventures, BDC Capital, Rhino Ventures, and several strategic investors.

The funding round aims to support ShopVision's efforts to provide eCommerce teams with comprehensive competitive and market intelligence, powering decision-making across merchandising, marketing, pricing, and operations.

Funding and investor perspectives

Brightspark Ventures led the investment, with support from institutional and industry partners. Andrew Lugsdin, General Partner at Brightspark Ventures, commented on the growing market interest in practical AI solutions for eCommerce. He said:

"ShopVision is on its way to becoming a category-defining platform in eCommerce AI. They've moved past hype and are building something teams actually rely on, using deep competitive intelligence to power practical workflows that drive results."

The backing from investor groups reflects the increasing demand for automation and data-driven insights within retail and eCommerce environments.

Platform functionality

ShopVision's platform is described as an AI agent for merchants, integrating comprehensive visual and historical market data with a brand's proprietary information. The result is a collection of AI-powered workflows designed to deliver ready-to-use insights and automation for eCommerce teams.

Harry Chemko, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at ShopVision, highlighted the need for solutions that make AI accessible and practical for retail operators. He stated:

"AI will change how every brand operates. ShopVision helps teams get started effectively without getting overwhelmed. The recent MIT report showing that 95% of AI projects have failed highlights the problem that most lack the real context and data needed to succeed. ShopVision solves this for eCommerce teams, making AI truly useful by pairing deep context with constantly expanding workflow automation."

The ShopVision platform is currently used by brands such as Men's Warehouse, Herschel, Craft Sports, and City Beach.

Customer feedback

Lyndon Cormack, Co-founder and Managing Director of Herschel Supply, explained how his team utilises ShopVision's system to inform their strategy. He stated:

"AI is rapidly redrawing the landscape of how brands operate and connect with their customers. For us, ShopVision provides both the vantage point and the tools to navigate that shift with confidence. It turns competitive complexity into clarity, and helps ensure that the decisions we make today translate into stronger performance and a more resilient brand tomorrow."

Mike Cheng, Head of Digital at City Beach, remarked on the practical benefits of adopting ShopVision, noting:

"ShopVision gives us the ability to react to competitive and customer insights faster than ever before. The workflows are practical, impactful, and designed around how real eCommerce teams work."

Jake Rawson, Chief Executive Officer of Craft Sports North America, provided early feedback from their experience with the platform. He said:

"Even within just the first month of using ShopVision, we've already seen real ROI. The visibility from the agent gave our team a new level of clarity into competitor moves on social and digital campaigns. It's really cut through the anecdotal chatter and brought us hard facts about promo cadences and product launches. That clarity has already helped us start ramping up our own social presence for the coming months."

Workflow examples

The platform's suite of workflows, now available to clients, addresses a range of eCommerce needs. These include Black Friday and Cyber Monday planning, promotion benchmarking, content monitoring, merchandising analysis, tracking competitor ad spend, channel compliance, social sentiment tracking, influencer network analysis, and automated weekly reporting.

Leadership team

ShopVision's founding team brings more than six decades of cumulative experience in eCommerce and AI. Co-founder and CEO Harry Chemko was previously at Elastic Path, while Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Peter Sheldon brings background from Adobe, Forrester Research, and Magento. Jeff Neil, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, has prior experience with Vivrelle, The Honest Company, and Glo Yoga. The team's experience encompasses retail, software-as-a-service, and data platform development.

Support for peak trading

To assist retail brands in preparation for the upcoming holiday period, ShopVision is offering a complimentary Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2025 planning guide, which provides data-driven competitive benchmarks and actionable recommendations for performance optimisation.
