Syndigo has been named a Leader in Gartner's inaugural Magic Quadrant for Product Information Management Solutions, the first time Gartner has issued a Magic Quadrant for the product information management market.

The Chicago-based company said the placement recognised its "Completeness of Vision" and "Ability to Execute", two of the criteria in Gartner's assessment framework. Product information management software helps brands, retailers and distributors organise, manage and distribute product data across sales channels and internal systems.

Gartner's report highlighted the growing complexity of product content environments, noting that product content is often spread across internal and external systems, including master data management, enterprise resource planning, product lifecycle management and supplier systems.

That fragmentation is becoming more significant as companies try to keep product listings accurate across eCommerce sites, retail systems and newer AI-driven interfaces. Gartner said both business-to-consumer and business-to-business organisations across multiple sectors can benefit from product information management tools, citing outcomes such as faster time to market, better data quality, regulatory compliance and lower costs linked to inaccurate product content.

Data focus

Syndigo said the recognition reflects demand for trusted product data as a foundation for commerce, compliance and AI applications. The company sells product data and product experience software to brands and retailers, and says its network connects more than 15,000 brands and 3,500 retailers.

Its customers include AutoZone, Colgate-Palmolive, Dole International, Unilever and Walgreens. Syndigo presents its platform as a way to help companies ensure product information is accurate and consistent before it reaches retailers, marketplaces, search systems and AI tools.

The company also highlighted recent additions including Synapse AI and AI-assisted product classification. These tools are designed to automate parts of product data management, which has traditionally involved significant manual work to classify products, enrich descriptions and maintain consistency across systems.

In comments released alongside the ranking, Simon Angove linked the company's strategy to the broader shift in how buying decisions are made across physical and digital channels.

"Every moment a customer decides what to buy, whether that's a shopper scrolling a shelf or an AI assistant recommending a match, that decision runs on data. When that data is incomplete or untrusted, even the best product can lose, not because it's worse, but because it never got seen. That's what we built Syndigo to fix: helping companies build trusted product data foundations for the agentic, digital and physical shelves. We feel our position as a Leader in the first Magic Quadrant for Product Information Management Solutions confirms we're solving the right problem," said Simon Angove, Chief Executive Officer, Syndigo.

Market context

The launch of an inaugural Magic Quadrant for the sector gives product information management a higher profile at a time when retailers and consumer goods companies are handling growing volumes of product content. That includes not only traditional specifications and descriptions, but also images, attributes, compliance information and data used by recommendation systems.

Pressure on product data has increased as companies sell across more digital channels and face tighter requirements around accuracy and disclosure. Retailers and brand owners must also ensure product data can be read and used by automated systems, including search engines and AI assistants, as those tools play a larger role in discovery and purchase decisions.

Syndigo's statement suggests it is seeking to place itself at the centre of that shift by linking product information management to AI readiness as well as retail execution. The company said its existing product data foundation now extends into more automated workflows through AI-based tools.

While Syndigo referred to a broader roadmap for multi-step AI agents and conversational shopping tools, the immediate news is Gartner's ranking and the analyst firm's formal recognition of the market. Gartner said organisations in multiple vertical markets and product categories can benefit from introducing a product information management solution, including through improved brand representation, stronger compliance and higher conversion rates.

For vendors in the segment, that framing broadens the market beyond a back-office data discipline into a more visible part of commerce operations. For customers, it underlines the growing role of product data in everything from listing accuracy to search visibility and machine-led recommendations.

Syndigo said its software is designed to help move complete and trusted product data across what it described as a two-sided commerce network of more than 15,000 brands and 3,500 retailers.
