Linnworks appoints Jon Bahl as CEO to steer global expansion

Fri, 5th Sep 2025

Linnworks has appointed Jon Bahl as its new Chief Executive Officer, tasking him with overseeing global operations and the company's growth strategy.

The appointment comes at a time when global retail is facing ongoing challenges, including disruptions to supply chains, rising tariffs and increased operational complexity. Linnworks, which provides a platform to help retailers and brands manage inventory and orders across multiple channels, says the leadership change is intended to bolster its position as it navigates this environment.

Global remit

Jon Bahl brings over 25 years of experience in strategic leadership roles. He has previously served as Chief Executive at Preparis and Agility Recovery, focusing on business continuity and technology-driven solutions. Bahl's background also includes leadership positions at Social Solutions (now Bonterra) and at private equity firm LLR Partners, where he was involved in steering commercial growth through periods of uncertainty.

As Chief Executive Officer, Bahl will be responsible for directing Linnworks' global strategy and guiding the company through what it describes as its next phase of expansion. His appointment follows a period of growth for Linnworks, which currently supports over 4,000 global customers and manages GBP £18 billion in annual gross merchandise value through its connected commerce operations platform.

Sector challenges

Linnworks' platform is used by retailers and brands to streamline order and inventory management, working across a range of marketplaces, logistics companies and shipping providers. This is viewed by the company as a crucial offering amid ongoing volatility in global retail channels and logistics.

Bahl highlighted his focus in a statement issued by the company, noting the challenges and opportunities ahead:

Linnworks is at a pivotal point in its evolution, well-positioned to scale in a retail environment that's constantly shifting. To lead in this space, operational excellence and tight execution are non-negotiable, but they must go hand-in-hand with a people-centric culture and a strong, healthy organisation.

Bahl also commented on his intentions for organisational development and growth:

"I believe in creating the conditions where teams can thrive, where the pipeline is clear and focused, and where growth is intentional and sustainable. Linnworks exists to simplify commerce for everyone in the ecosystem, and I'm energised to take our customers, our people, and our platform to the next level."

Leadership vision

The appointment was welcomed by Marlin Equity Partners, the firm backing Linnworks. Grant Schachter, Principal at Marlin Equity Partners, said:

"We're thrilled to welcome Jon as CEO of Linnworks at such a pivotal moment in the company's journey. Linnworks is entering a new phase of transformation and scale, and Jon brings the leadership, vision, and operational discipline needed to drive that forward. We're excited to support him and the leadership team as they unlock the next chapter of growth and innovation."

Linnworks aims to further integrate its platform with an increasing range of retail and logistics channels in response to the rapid changes seen in the commerce sector. The company positions itself as a central platform for retailers seeking a single point of control across their online and offline business operations. Its stated goal is to help brands achieve efficiency and reliability in fulfilment and operational management as the sector evolves.

Bahl's leadership approach is characterised by his emphasis on both operational discipline and the importance of organisational health. He has consistently pointed to the need for a clear and focused strategic pipeline, matched with a culture where teams are enabled to perform effectively.
