Furble launches nationwide online platform for pet care
Furble has launched a nationwide pet care platform for the Canadian market, offering online access to prescription medications, food, and wellness products.
The platform was created by specialists in veterinary medicine, pharmacy, and healthcare, and is the first of its kind to launch in the country. The founders identified a lack of trusted, Canadian-built services for legally and conveniently filling pet prescriptions online.
The service connects pet owners with licensed pharmacy partners to process and deliver pet prescriptions directly to their homes. Furble said it seeks to address this gap while offering transparent pricing comparisons and home delivery, making it easier for pet owners to manage ongoing pet health needs.
According to the company, rising costs of living have led 50 per cent of Canadian pet owners to skip veterinary visits. The company states that the new platform makes access to necessary medications and products more affordable and convenient for families. Users have the ability to compare different products and select suitable fulfilment options after a veterinarian recommends medication for their pet.
Pharmacy network
Once a pet owner has chosen a product, veterinarians send prescriptions directly to Furble's network of licensed pharmacy partners. These pharmacies process and ship the medication or products to the customer's address. This process is intended to support pet owners throughout their pets' health journey, ensuring medications are filled through legal and regulated channels.
Lisa MacIntyre-Smith, Chief Executive Officer at Furble, has been in leadership positions at various related organisations such as VetStrategy and Medicine Shoppe Canada. She described her motivation for establishing the platform in two ways, emphasising its support for both pet owners and Canadian veterinary professionals.
"As a long-time pet parent, I know how much our animals mean to us, and I've always been passionate about improving how we care for them," said MacIntyre-Smith. "That's what inspired Furble: to create an accessible and affordable, Canadian-built platform so families don't have to choose between essential vet visits and the prescriptions and products their pets rely on. Every order supports pets getting the care they deserve while giving back to animals in need, driving real change for families and veterinarians across Canada."
Social responsibility
Furble said it will commit a portion of its profits to Canadian animal charities and regularly organises volunteer work within these organisations. Adding that its approach is designed to create a positive impact that extends beyond individual families and contributes to the broader pet care ecosystem in Canada.
This includes the goal of supporting veterinarians as part of building a stronger, community-focused network for pet health. The model also provides transparency into pricing, which the company indicates is an area of concern for many pet owners when obtaining preventive or ongoing pet medication.
