Tre'dish expands grocery range, launches price transparency app

Wed, 24th Sep 2025

Tre'dish has introduced Transparent Pricing and expanded its grocery offering through the acquisition of Brandco Direct, providing residents across the Greater Toronto Area with a new option for affordable and transparent grocery shopping.

Transparent Pricing, now available on the Tre'dish app, allows users to access real-time, geo-targeted price comparisons for each grocery item against the three largest local full-service grocery retailers. This provides consumers with detailed insight into how much they are paying compared to established supermarket chains.

The expansion follows Tre'dish's acquisition of Brandco Direct, a direct-to-consumer wholesale business. As a result, Tre'dish's selection has increased from around 600 to over 4,000 grocery products, spanning produce, meat, dairy, household, and personal care essentials. This expansion aims to support households seeking alternatives to rising food costs without compromising on product quality.

Data from Statistics Canada show that Canadians are paying 27.1% more for food in 2025 compared to July 2020. As food inflation continues to put pressure on households, many have been forced to either reduce their grocery baskets or turn towards lower-cost, discount retailers - often at the expense of quality.

Tre'dish operates an AI-powered, wholesale-to-consumer grocery platform. By sourcing directly from wholesalers and streamlining distribution, the company says it is able to offer average shopping cart costs up to 25% lower than traditional grocery stores and delivery aggregators. This approach is intended to remove retail markups and excess distribution layers that can increase consumer prices.

"Groceries have become one of the biggest financial stressors for Canadians," said Peter Hwang, Founder & CEO at Tre'dish. "The acquisition of Brandco Direct is a huge step forward for us. It's about scaling up fast, giving families more value, keeping prices fair, and supporting the amazing Canadian brands we work with. We're not waiting for traditional retail to change, we're building something that's new, financially disciplined, and socially impactful."

With the introduction of Transparent Pricing, users can see clear comparisons between Tre'dish and major grocery retailers on identical items. The company emphasises that this transparency reflects "the same quality products they expect from top-tier grocers: not discount retail substitutes or lower-quality alternatives." Tre'dish reports this feature is intended to both build consumer trust and showcase its focus on a technology-driven retail experience.

Beyond immediate price transparency, the platform captures live competitive pricing data, feeding into its AI-driven roadmap. Tre'dish plans to further personalise the shopping experience with forthcoming features including predictive shopping baskets, intelligent product substitutions, and personalised recommendations tailored to both household budgets and preferences.

The acquisition of Brandco Direct has also enabled access for Tre'dish customers to a broader selection of brands and suppliers, increasing the scope of available products to more than 4,000. The integration provides a supply chain foundation that supports direct consumer access to high-quality goods typically available through wholesale channels.

According to the company's statements, the Tre'dish operating model is designed with the intention of expanding across other major North American markets in the future. Its offering provides wholesalers a mechanism to begin tapping into direct-to-consumer business models, while consumers benefit from lower prices commonly reserved for trade customers.

Tre'dish intends to continue investing in technology to address persistently high living costs. Through app-based features, partnerships with wholesalers, and adaptive logistics, the company's stated mission is to improve both the affordability and accessibility of groceries for Canadian households.
