Samsung Canada will open three new Samsung Experience Stores in Richmond, Laval and Calgary, expanding its retail network in major Canadian shopping centres.
The stores will open at CF Richmond Centre in British Columbia, CF Carrefour Laval in Quebec and CF Market Mall in Alberta. The locations were selected as part of a broader push to strengthen Samsung's presence in high-traffic retail destinations where shoppers are already spending time.
The additions build on Samsung Experience Stores at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Sherway Gardens, Montreal Eaton Centre, Scarborough Town Centre, Metropolis at Metrotown and Square One Shopping Centre. The Calgary location will be the company's first in Alberta, extending its physical presence in Western Canada.
Samsung is placing greater emphasis on in-person retail as consumers look for opportunities to test devices and get support before buying. The stores are designed to let visitors try Galaxy AI features and other connected products in person, while also offering technical help and purchasing advice from staff.
The three new sites are in some of Canada's strongest-performing malls. According to ICSC's 2024 Canadian Mall Property Performance rankings, CF Richmond Centre was the fourth most productive mall in the country, CF Carrefour Laval ranked tenth nationally and first in Quebec, and CF Market Mall placed fourteenth.
Retail strategy
The expansion reflects a broader effort by technology brands to maintain a physical presence alongside online sales channels. Although many electronics purchases begin with online research, physical stores remain important for product demonstrations, after-sales support and services such as click-and-collect.
At the new locations, shoppers will be able to browse Samsung smartphones, wearables, tablets, PCs and connected devices. The stores will also offer Samsung Care+ services, on-site technical support, device troubleshooting, buy online, pick up in-store options and access to a wider product range through extended aisle ordering.
Samsung described the investment as part of a long-term commitment to the Canadian market, responding to demand from consumers who want more direct experience with newer AI-related features and products connected across a broader device ecosystem.
Krista Collinson, Head of Direct-to-Consumer Division at Samsung Canada, said the new stores reflect changes in how customers want to shop for personal technology.
"As technology becomes more intelligent, connected, and integrated into everyday life, consumers are increasingly looking for ways to experience these innovations firsthand," said Krista Collinson, Head of Direct-to-Consumer Division, Samsung Electronics Canada.
"These new locations reflect our continued investment in Canada and our belief that physical retail plays an important role in helping consumers discover the full potential of AI-powered technology," Collinson said.
Growth markets
Richmond, Laval and Calgary are all significant consumer markets anchored by established regional shopping destinations. By choosing those centres, Samsung is targeting areas with strong footfall, broad catchment areas and a customer base likely to shop across multiple consumer electronics categories.
The strategy also suggests Samsung views its stores as more than sales points. In addition to showcasing flagship mobile products, they serve as service hubs where customers can get help with setup, repairs and troubleshooting, functions that can help retain buyers within the brand's product range.
For Canada's retail property owners, the openings add another global technology brand to malls that continue to rely on destination tenants to draw visitors. Consumer electronics stores can generate repeat traffic because customers return not only for new devices but also for support and upgrades.
Samsung has not announced opening dates for the three locations. Further details will be released later.
