Samsara & Element launch unified platform for fleet operators

Yesterday

Samsara and Element have announced a partnership to provide enterprise fleet operators across Canada and the United States with an integrated fleet and operations management solution.

The collaboration provides Element's North American network, which encompasses more than 1.5 million vehicles, with direct access to Samsara's open platform. The aim is to deliver real-time, data-driven insights that will address a range of challenges faced by fleets, including managing a variety of assets, optimising utilisation, and controlling costs in a fluctuating market environment.

Unified platform

According to the companies, the combination of Element's lifecycle fleet management expertise with Samsara's connected operations technology will allow fleet administrators to oversee the full lifecycle of their critical assets. This includes not only vehicles but also other operational equipment through a unified offering.

Robert Stobaugh, Chief Operating Officer, GTM at Samsara, highlighted ongoing pressures on the sector. He stated, "Fleet leaders today are facing rising operational costs, evolving regulatory standards, and the need for improved safety and sustainability. With this partnership, enterprise and government fleets can unlock data-driven insights to help them more efficiently, safely and cost effectively manage their fleets."

The offering is positioned to meet needs within both the private and public sectors. It promises to improve safety and risk management using features such as artificial intelligence-powered incident detection and real-time coaching, as well as integrated compliance tracking. Additional capabilities include predictive maintenance and simplified service planning, all accessible from a unified platform.

Operational and sustainability benefits

Fleet operators using the new solution can expect unified reporting covering vehicles, equipment assets, and operational workflows. Transparency and visibility are increased through this approach, allowing for more informed decision-making across organisations.

Sustainability insights are also a core element of the partnership's offering. Administrators will have access to data supporting electrification readiness, emissions tracking, and fleet optimisation, aligning with the sector's move towards reduced environmental impact.

The package additionally covers integrated procurement, onboarding, and advisory services, designed to deliver a consistent client experience. Both companies indicated that customers would have immediate access to cost-saving and operational strategies suited to shifting macroeconomic conditions.

Industry perspectives

David Madrigal, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Element, underlines the shared objectives behind the partnership:

"At the core of this unique partnership is a shared commitment to redefine how fleets operate—seamlessly integrating intelligence, automation, and expertise to create real enterprise value for our clients. Through our integrated expertise, we remain focused on maximizing the performance of clients' fleets so they can focus on growing their business."

As the industry faces ongoing cost pressures and an increased emphasis on safety, sustainability, and compliance, both companies highlighted the readiness of their solutions to address these challenges. The joint platform is being introduced at a time when fleet operators are seeking greater efficiency and modernisation across their operational landscape.

Scope of the offering

The partnership covers both the Canadian and US markets, with a solution intended for enterprise-level clients as well as government fleets. The companies note that the offering will offer streamlined procurement and onboarding for shared customers, in addition to the operational capabilities outlined above.

Samsara's Connected Operations platform is described as providing data insights for organisations that depend on physical operations, while Element brings experience in fleet management services, including acquisition, maintenance, risk management, route optimisation, electric vehicle integration, and remarketing. The integration intends to maximise both the cost efficiency and the productivity of client fleets by leveraging data and planning tools.

Executives from Element, McLeod Software, and Samsara are set to discuss their approaches to maximising productivity with data integrations at an upcoming session, underscoring the ongoing commitment to informing the market about new operational strategies.
