Safe Software named niche player in 2025 Gartner MQ

Wed, 17th Dec 2025

Safe Software has been named as a niche player in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools, marking the sixth consecutive year the Canadian company has appeared in the analyst firm's report.

The Surrey, British Columbia-based business develops the FME Platform, which began as a specialist tool for geospatial data. The product now targets a broader data integration market and supports artificial intelligence workloads.

Gartner's Magic Quadrant reports assess vendors in specific technology sectors. The data integration tools report evaluates providers that supply software for ingesting, transforming, and moving data across systems.

Safe Software said the latest inclusion underlined its strategy in all-data and AI-centric integration. The company describes FME as an "All-Data, Any-AI Integration Platform".

The platform connects data from multiple sources. It also manages automation tasks. It links data flows with AI systems.

Safe Software said organisations use FME to connect data, applications, and AI technologies across locations and environments. The company said this includes on-premise and cloud deployments.

The company reported a community of more than 200,000 users. It said more than 25,000 organisations use FME in over 120 countries.

Safe Software said FME supports no-code integration. Users build workflows through a visual interface. They do not write software code.

The platform includes built-in support for thousands of systems. It also includes more than 800 "transformers". These are pre-defined components that change or enrich data inside a workflow.

According to the company, customers use FME for tasks such as data migration, real-time data movement, and business intelligence projects. It also supports big data and spatial data processing.

Safe Software says the product continues to evolve beyond its origins in geographic information systems. It now targets a wide range of structured and unstructured data sources, including cloud applications and AI services.

The firm said its approach focuses on customer choice. It supports deployment on-premise, in public or private clouds, or in hybrid environments that combine both.

Safe Software's work with spatial data remains a core element of the platform. The company said FME offers "comprehensive support for spatial data". This includes location information from mapping, sensor, and asset management systems.

The global customer base uses FME across sectors such as government, utilities, transport, and commercial enterprises. Many of these organisations manage large volumes of geospatial and operational data.

Through an international partner network, FME is available in more than 120 countries. The software has been localised into multiple languages.

Safe Software was founded in 1993. It has focused on data integration and transformation since inception.

The company said its long-standing aim is to reduce the time customers spend managing complex data. It said this frees teams to focus on analysis and decision-making.

Don Murray, Chief Executive and Co-Founder of Safe Software, said the latest recognition reflected both customer adoption and internal research work.

"Our continued recognition reflects the trust of our customers and the innovation of our team," said Don Murray, CEO and Co-Founder, Safe Software. "We're proud to help organizations integrate data seamlessly across systems, driving faster, smarter decisions in an increasingly AI-driven world."

Safe Software said it will continue to increase investment in product development and AI-related integration features. The company plans further work on automation, support for additional systems, and options for customers that operate across both cloud and on-premise environments.
