Oracle has launched Oracle Manager Edge, an AI coaching assistant for managers within Oracle Cloud HCM. The tool is available in Oracle Touchpoints.

It is designed to give managers real-time guidance during employee discussions and day-to-day team leadership, drawing on goals, feedback, performance reviews, team interactions and other workforce signals across Oracle's human resources software.

Oracle Manager Edge is also accessible through Slack and Microsoft Teams, placing prompts and recommendations inside communication platforms already used by managers and staff. The assistant can help managers prepare for difficult conversations, support employee development and recognise achievements.

Another focus is performance and growth discussions. The system uses context from team sentiment, one-to-one conversations and organisational priorities to suggest actions and highlight opportunities for recognition, improvement and employee development.

Manager support

The launch reflects growing interest among software suppliers in applying generative AI and related tools to management tasks inside workplace systems. Oracle is targeting line managers, who often carry responsibility for team performance and retention while also handling administrative work and internal reporting.

The assistant is intended to offer consistent coaching across different roles, experience levels and locations. Its recommendations are designed to support employee growth without ranking individuals in a negative way.

Oracle positions the product as part of its wider Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM suite, which covers HR processes from recruitment to retirement. Within that suite, Oracle Touchpoints supports continuous employee engagement through structured conversations, feedback and insights between managers and employees.

Manager Edge builds on that setup by adding prompts and coaching in the flow of work. The assistant helps managers turn workforce information into practical actions tied to business goals, employee recognition and career development.

Workplace AI

The launch comes as large technology groups seek to embed AI across human resources, finance, supply chain and customer systems rather than offer it only as a standalone tool. For HR software providers, management coaching and employee engagement have become important areas as employers look for ways to improve retention and team performance.

Oracle said the tool maintains control of sensitive workforce data while aligning with security and compliance requirements. That point is likely to matter for employers using AI in people management, where employee records, feedback and performance information remain sensitive.

Lewis Thompson, Senior Vice President of Applications Development at Oracle, outlined the company's rationale for the launch.

"Organisations need managers who can guide teams through change, build trust, and help employees grow, but too often they are stretched thin by administrative work, limited development support, and pressure to deliver results," said Lewis Thompson, Senior Vice President of Applications Development at Oracle.

He said the assistant aims to make management support more widely available across organisations.

"Oracle Manager Edge helps organisations scale effective leadership and build resilient teams for an AI-driven world by providing managers with personalised, context-aware coaching that turns workforce insights into meaningful action when it matters most," Thompson said.

Oracle has been expanding AI features across its Fusion applications portfolio, which includes software for enterprise resource planning, human capital management, supply chain and customer experience. In HR, that strategy centres on embedding AI into existing workflows used by managers, employees and HR teams rather than requiring separate systems.

For employers already using Oracle Cloud HCM, the new assistant adds another layer to Oracle's effort to deepen the role of its software in everyday management decisions. The product sits at the intersection of employee engagement, performance management and workplace collaboration tools, where software groups are increasingly competing to shape how managers interact with staff.

Oracle Manager Edge uses workforce insights from across Oracle Cloud HCM to deliver personalised guidance in the moment.
